A warm welcome to the website of Great Budworth Garden Club! Our friendly club was created in 2000 to serve the gardening interests of people in the villages and towns surrounding the charming village of Great Budworth, in North Cheshire.
Since its formation, the club has gone from strength to strength, and is currently about 100-strong. We enjoy a varied programme of monthly events, including local and national speakers, and trips to interesting gardens and nurseries, large and small. We usually organise a coach-based club holiday each year, staying at a comfortable hotel, and visiting a fascinating series of individual gardens of note. We are a sociable club, and arrange a number of entertainments during the year, including informal Christmas and Summer parties. Several members open their gardens for the NGS national “Yellow Book” scheme each year. Members bring their spare plants for sale at low prices to other members at each meeting. We are affiliated to the RHS, so that members can gain free advice on horticultural matters from skilled national experts, and we have negotiated discounts from local nurseries for the benefit of members.
We also publish a quarterly Newsletter for members.
You will find much more about us on this website. The maximum number of members is limited by the size of the village hall, and there is currently a waiting list. But we welcome new members, and you can arrange to join us for a visit prior to applying formally, to see if membership would be right for you.
We look forward to meeting you. Jean Davies, Chairman
For prospective new members, we suggest you read the brief history of our Club on the next page, which will give you a flavour of what awaits you!
